Welcome to The LOPEZ FAMILY - known as the Taekwondo Olympians that made History!

Jean, Steven, Mark, and Diana Lopez are all USA National Team Members in taekwondo, and represented the U.S. at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, History marking! The first time since 1904 that three siblings have been on the same Olympic team-and with a fourth sibling as coach... and winning. They will be returning to the Olympics in 2016 in Brazil.

Two-time USA Olympic taekwondo champion Steven Lopez (will be returning to the Olympics in Rio 2016) told BBC Sport's Nick Hope that he aims to continue fighting win the 2016 Rio Games when he's 37. Lopez won gold at the Sydney 2000 Games and in Athens four years later before claiming bronze at the 2008 Beijing Games. He broke his ankle in a fight with world number one Ramin Azizov in the opening round of  London 2012 and that disappointment has fuelled his desire to continue competing.

"My parents are immigrants," Jean Lopez said. "They moved from Nicaragua from New York and I had to kind of grow up really quick. I was always put in a position where I had to translate for my family and kind of help them, guide them through the American culture. So it was a natural transition for me to coach them. Our family structure is based on hierarchy and my parents have allowed me to make the right decisions for my siblings."

The Lopez's are an inspiring story of a family united by a dream. They run a taekwondo academy near their home in Houston, Texas and their incredible success has been credited with putting the sport of taekwondo on the map in the United States. < more >
